My first experience drinking sake was at some embassy in my early 20s... can't remember which one and what the occassion was , I just remember that the ambassador (not a Japanese, btw) offered the guests some sake, and that was quite an experience for unexperienced drinker like myself :-) Not in a bad way- and we certainly did't drink more than 10-20 ml- I just remember it as a good cultural experience, and that I liked sake much better than the Bulgarian rakia ("grapa" type of schnaps) which I thought it would taste like. I've tried several times since then sake at various sushi-places, but none could compare to that first memory...
Anywho, I found these pics of sake barrels at
Creative Roots, and I came to think about it. But I had no idea sake comes in barrels, and how they look like- very decorative, aren't they? :-)
