Joshua Tree National Park

Looking at this pics (and the amazing video below) makes me wish I was there..right here, right now. Sunny California, who would complain? And these rock formations are quite something. It's the first time I actually get to see what an actual Joshua Tree looks like (up until now it was just a U2-album name to me, you know).

Amazing landscape in the Chinese province of Yunnan! Apparently the land is rich in metal ores and is oxidated - hence the red colour. But I'm also loving the planted cultures- and the peasant scenary. More pics here.

Lake Huron/Езерото Хурон

Lake Huron, named by the French after the local population (*reminds me of "The Last of the Mohicans" LOL) is the second largest of the Great Lakes and is bounded by Michigan on the US side, and Ontario on the Canadian side. Looks like a see, doesn't it?

Eзерото Хурон, получило името си от французите заради местното индианско племе (*гледали ли сте "Последният мохикан??)  е второто по големина от Великите езера между Щатите и Канада и граничи с Мичиган и Онтарио съответно.

Ok, this is OFFICIALLY creepy/Вампирски октопод-медуза

This thing right here is called Vampyroteuthis infernalis, i.e. "vampire squid from Hell" but it's not technically a squid, but rather resembles jellyfish in composition but is still considered to be in the same family as octopus, squids and the like (ok, I am confused...) It live at 3000 ft depth and is the animal with the biggest eyes in the world proportionally to the rest of its body. I think we can all see why. The good news is it reaches max 28 cm in length.

Relampago del Catatumbo/Светкавцата от Кататумбо

This is a very, very interesting natural phenomenon- Relampago del Catatumbo (Catatumbo Lightling) in Venezuela, happens 140 to 160 nights out of the year in exactly the same place (where the river Catatumbo flows into Lake Maracaibo), lasts for 10 hours at a time, producing as many as 280 strikes per hour.
